Sorry I haven't blogged earlier but I'm sure everyone has been just as busy as I have been this holiday season. We have had an exciting December with lots of memories. This month has consisted of lots of caroling (with the girl scouts and school), cookie decorating, making lefse (type of Norwegian bread), going to the snow, seeing Santa, Christmas parties, Christmas itself, visiting with my uncle from Minnesota, spending time with family, going to Calico and celebrating my sister's birthday. We have all been very healthy so far this winter season. I know there was a lot of people sick around us for awhile and somehow we stayed well. I hope we continue to get through this winter season with no major illnesses. Here are some pictures of the things we did this month. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a wonderful
New Year!

Amanda's Daisy Troop

Amanda making cookies and getting ready to go caroling with her daisy friends.

I helped at the BINGO table in Blake's class party.
Blake decorating his gingerbread brownie. Yum!
Lauren was a little nervous about Santa and didn't want to sit on his lap but she did great and even gave him a little hug at the end.
Making Lefse
Making our traditional Norwegian lefse (pronounced - "lefsa").
Lefse is made out of potatoes and is like a tortilla.

Amanda is rolling the dough out really thin.

Lauren lifting up the lefse off the board.

Blake placing the lefse on the hot skillet.

The finished product. You put butter and brown sugar in a warm piece and roll it up like a tortilla. Very Yummy!
Wrightwood
We went to Wrightwood for a fun snow day with the kids. The snow was very powdery and deep and we went where nobody had played. The kids had a lot of fun.

Amanda on her sled.

Blake had a blast and even got a big scrape on his chin from crashing.

Amanda hit this big hole and then ate it into the snow/ice and hit her face. She scraped up her cheek a little.

Lauren and I sat back and watched most of the time. She tried the sled a couple times but wasn't too fond of it.
Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncle's house. We go here every year with my
family, my dad's brother and his wife and daughter and my aunt's family. We eat many traditional Norwegian foods as well as other "American" type foods.
The kids with some of the dad's.

My dad and his two brother's-Roger and Ralph.
Roger was visiting us from Minnesota. We haven't seen him for many years.

Calico
We went to Calico Ghost Town located in Yermo, Ca.
Calico was developed in 1881 during the largest silver strike in California.
A house made out of glass bottles.
We could go into these houses in the sides of the hill the miners used to live in.

These signs were all around.

We got to go into an old mine. It was pretty cool to see.

Hold on Amanda!
